Fast Facts for Better Business Decisions

In the Internet Age, a huge of amount of information is available. However, finding information that is relevant to your needs, accurate and from a reliable source can often seem like finding a needle in a haystack. That's where FactFetcher can help.

Our Mission

FactFetcher conducts secondary research for business clients to quickly find critical information from published sources. Our sources for information include printed publications, government databases, syndicated research reports, industry analyst reports and web sites, among others. Our goal is to locate the most up-to-date information from the most credible sources available on your subject of interest.

Some of the objectives of secondary research could include the following:

  •   Gain insight into potential markets and customers
  •   Investigate competitor activities and strategy
  •   Discover buying criteria and unmet needs
  •   Determine market trends and demographics
  •   Learn more about customers' businesses
  •   Gather background information for proposals

Compared to commissioning a primary research study, advantages of using secondary research for business intelligence include cost and speed. By searching existing information sources, you can avoid "re-inventing the wheel," spending a great deal of time and effort to produce data that already exists.

Secondary research also has some limitations. Sometimes the only sources of published information are too old or not specific enough for decision making. In this case, secondary research can be followed up with primary research (e.g. market surveys) to generate more up-to-date, specific data. However, initial exploratory research should always include scanning the existing, available information to identify the targets and issues that will be the subject of primary research.

How We Work

FactFetcher is a Puget Sound area firm with clients nationwide. Staffed by MBA's with at least ten years of marketing management experience in a variety of industries, we are available at reasonable rates to assist with all of your business intelligence needs.  Our first step is to understand your information needs and do a no charge preliminary scan to determine how much information is available on the subject.  We will then present a proposal outlining the type of information available and an estimate of the time/cost involved to collect it.  We can then provide deliverables to clients in the way best suited to their needs, including:

  •   Raw Data Collection.  FactFetcher can locate and collect all relevant information on the subject and present it in an unprocessed form, e.g. copies of articles.  This is the least expensive option, but requires the most client time for analysis.
  •   Information Summary.  FactFetcher can sift though all of the sources to provide a summary of the most relevant information. Sources are indicated for all information so the client may refer to the source documents as desired.
  •   Critical Analysis.  FactFetcher can provide a complete report, including a summary of the information obtained, analysis and recommendations for action.  The critical analysis can be used as the basis for a white paper if desired.
